Possibility of Evil and Lottery comparison.

When looking at the two stories The Possibility of Evil and The Lottery a common theme could be What appears good at first is in reality evil/bad in both stories. The characters Ms. Strangeworth  and the community members appear to be good and righteous, but in the end they are actually the real problem. In the story The Possibility of Evil Ms. Strangeworth writes letters that send warnings or messages to the towns people because she thinks that her last name Strangeworth gives her the right  to run everyone's lives and tell them what they can and can't do. While in The Lottery a whole community kills one person in a twisted game of chance were the winner dies; so the town's people does not need to deal with over population.  Both stories focus on if the hero is doing the right thing.

  1. I'm not sure both stories focus on the hero doing the "right" thing. Both stories may deal with "tradition" or doing what one has always done in order to protect the community.
